Maggi Diet: Menu for 4 weeks

The Maggi diet is a low-calorie diet for weight loss, which is designed for 4 weeks.The daily diet includes foods rich in proteins, and the consumption of fats and carbohydrates is limited.

The name of the diet comes from the name Margaret, since the diet plan was created by specialists at the Mayo Clinic especially for Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in the 1980s.

There are two dietary options: the egg diet (based on eating eggs, fruits, vegetables and meat) and the cottage cheese diet ('dacha').The Maggi cottage cheese diet is used for egg allergies and involves replacing each egg with 100g of cottage cheese.

Giving up the diet

A long-term low-calorie diet is a serious burden on the body, so at the end of the fourth week, the subsequent diet should be properly organized.

After completing the Maggi diet, as well as other low-carb diet plans, the likelihood of overeating starchy and sugary foods increases.

To avoid overeating after a diet, you must include food in your diet according to the following principle:

  • every 3 days, increase the amount of food containing slow carbohydrates (buckwheat, bulgur, quinoa, bean bran, whole grain rye bread) by 20-25 g, until the total weight of food with carbohydrates reaches 250-200 g per day;
  • the amount of non-starchy vegetables should be half of the total daily diet;
  • Every day you can eat one large fruit or berry in the amount of 100 g;
  • do not include sweets in your diet, because during the diet the body has weaned itself from sweets, so you should not create an addiction again;
  • eat 3-4 times a day and reduce the number of snacks at other times;
  • do not eat 3 hours before going to bed.

Contraindications

Since the Maggi diet consists of a large number of protein products, which create additional stress on the functioning of the kidneys and liver, this diet should not be used by people with pathologies such as:

  • kidney failure;
  • increased level of uric acid in the blood;gout.

Also, the Maggi diet should not be used for eating disorders (ED), that is, for people prone to anorexia, bulimia and compulsive overeating, because a low-calorie diet can worsen the problem of eating disorders.
